Heybridge Basin

One of our favourite places is Heybridge Basin, nr. Maldon Essex. Today we took a day off and visited a restaurant for dinner. The weather today was not that great so I did not expect to do any photography but just after lunch the light improved just at the same time as a number of boats used the recently refurbished lock.

Today the regular lock keeper was having a day off so his manager, Dave Smart was in charge. I was grateful that he allowed me to have close up access to the operation, many thanks.

First of all this lady with her striking red hair took my eye, she was just enjoying the view.
